Bringing Your Heroes to Life
The Standard for Realistic Human Skin Tones.
Kislev Flesh is one of the most vital paints for any hobbyist's collection, serving as the go-to color for painting human skin. As a Layer paint, it has a lower pigment density than a Base paint, allowing it to be applied in translucent coats that blend smoothly over darker flesh tones. It provides a healthy, mid-to-light Caucasian skin tone that looks natural under the harsh lights of the gaming table.
Why Kislev Flesh is a Hobby Essential
The Perfect Mid-Tone: Kislev Flesh sits in the "sweet spot" of skin tones—not too pale and not too dark. It is the ideal color for painting the faces and hands of Astra Militarum soldiers, Cities of Sigmar freeguilders, or Space Marine scouts.
Exceptional Layering: Because it is designed to be layered, it flows beautifully. When thinned, it can be used to glaze over muscle definition, creating soft transitions that look like real skin rather than plastic.
Versatility Beyond Skin: While it is a flesh tone by name, its warm, off-beige hue makes it excellent for painting weathered parchment, aged cloth, or even the soft underbelly of certain monsters and xenos.
Essential for Faces: Most hobbyists use Kislev Flesh as the primary color for faces. Its smooth finish ensures that fine details like noses, cheekbones, and brows are highlighted without looking chalky.
How to Master Kislev Flesh
The Classic Human Skin Recipe: Start with a base of Cadian Fleshtone, apply a wash of Reikland Fleshshade to catch the recesses, and then layer Kislev Flesh back over the raised areas (the forehead, bridge of the nose, and tops of the cheeks).
Smooth Glazing: For characters or "centerpiece" models, thin Kislev Flesh with water or a thinning medium. Apply multiple thin layers to create a professional, smooth skin texture.
The Final Pop: To finish a face, mix a tiny bit of white into your Kislev Flesh for a final "dot" highlight on the tip of the nose and the highest point of the cheekbones.
