Retro Games Social Club Year-End Meetup
Because composite video is on the naughty list.
When: Tuesday, 17 November 2026, 18:30 to 20:00
Cost: Free admission
Ditch the blurry RF switches and fuzzy composite cables: the festive season is kicking off in razor-sharp 240p!
Join us for the November meetup of the Retro Games Social Club, where we celebrate the quirks, nostalgia and hardware of classic gaming. Whether you spend your weekends restoring CRT monitors, recapping original hardware, curating emulation builds, or just love sitting down with an arcade stick or vintage controller, this night is for you.
What’s on the Agenda
Featured Talk: The Retro Video Signal Rabbit Hole
Ever wondered why your childhood NES looked soft on the family CRT, or how enthusiasts get pixel-perfect clarity out of a 30-year-old console? We’ll break down vintage video formats and standards, from RF, composite and S-Video up through component (YPbPr), SCART and RGB. No engineering degree required, just a fascination with analogue technology.
Open Floor & Community Demos (Show & Tell)
Discussion is completely open and free-flowing. Have a recent console shell restoration, custom FPGA setup, homebrew project or rare cartridge you want to talk about? Bring it along! Anyone is welcome to share, present or hook a console up to the screens.
Free Play & Socialising
Grab a drink, play some classics, talk shop about soldering irons and shaders, and connect with fellow retro enthusiasts.

Admission: Completely free.
Who can come: Everyone, from curious beginners and casual retro players to emulation nerds and seasoned hardware modders.
